Over the previous four IndyCar Series seasons, Danica Patrick patiently answered hundreds, if not thousands, of questions about when and/or if she was going to win her first race.
“Of course I don’t have to answer that question any more, but as a driver and someone who’s being paid to do a job, I still have that same expectation of myself to get out there and win races,’’ Patrick said during a testing session at Kansas Speedway.
“To be honest I felt sorry for you guys (reporters) having to ask that question because I felt like, ‘How many times can you ask that before you don’t really care any more and before you don’t believe any more?’ It was nice to get that out of the way and move on. Now we get to talk about more interesting things. I’m glad for this shift.’’

Her win at Twin Ring Mortegi was the first by a female driver in a major closed-course auto racing event.
She will competes in Long Beach before the series returns to Kansas Speedway on April 26th for the first oval-track event of the season. The Kansas Speedway event is also the final tuneup for the Indianapolis 500.
“I do like the ovals, I think they make for good racing,’’ Patrick said. “When you have a good car it’s a lot of fun. I just think the racing is fun and exciting.’’
