Graham Rahal lost his IndyCar teammate, Robert Doornbos, yesterday, or so went the reports. Rahal seemed unfazed.
“I don’t know what his deal is, but I’ve got to be brutally honest, I just don’t care,” Rahal said.
“We have come a long way, and I think we are looking good, things are looking up for us,” said Rahal, 20, coming off a fifth-place finish on the Kentucky Speedway oval on Saturday, his fourth top-seven finish in the past eight races. “I think there are good results ahead for us, without a doubt.”
“We had the option to leave the team after 12 races, which I made use of,” Doornbos said. “I want to stay in IndyCar Series and I will announce my future plans very soon. I would like to thank the team and especially Mike Lanigan and Carl Haas. I wish them a bright future.”

It’s not unusual for drivers to often consider future options, and Rahal is no exception. His contract is up at the end of the season, and sources have said that among his options might be an offer from De Ferran Motorsports, which is owned by former Indy 500 winner and season champion Gil de Ferran, who is expected to expand his operation into the IndyCar series next season.
