Spice Girl Mel B and racecar driver Helio Castroneves stormed into the lead on Monday night’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Both contestants proved they’ve been listening hard to the judges critiques as they stepped up their dances with their respective on-screen partners.
Helio and partner Julianne Hough, who won last season’s “Dancing” trophy with speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, landed the highest score of the evening, putting in two polished performances.
For their first dance, the paso doble, Julianne brought in her own pit crew, including Jane Seymour’s former “Dancing” partner Tony Dovolani, who whipped Helio’s on stage moves into shape. Access Hollywood.com
IndyCar champ Helio Castroneves finally scored his first perfect 30 with his dynamic, fun quickstep on “Dancing With the Stars” tonight. It’s as if he’s been drafting, saving his energy for the push to the finals. And tonight he made his move toward the finish line.
Close behind, though, is Melanie Brown (aka Mel B or Scary Spice), who trails by only 1 point overall. She scored a 27 on her sharp, powerful tango and a 29 (easily could have been a 30) for her very fun mambo.
Helio scored a 27 on his first dance — the paso doble — which also was impressive.
It would be a shame if both of these dancers aren’t in the contest finals on Nov. 27. Mercury News.com
The competition certainly is heating up with the five remaining pairs feeling the pressure. Monday night, they each performed two dances, and in the end two couples came out on top, pulling away from the rest of the pack.
A standing ovation for racecar driver Helio Castroneves and his partner Julianne Hough.
He may have been called a big dancing banana for his bright yellow suit, but his moves on the dance floor scored high with the judges.
From a perfect score to the perfect way to honor a father. For Marie Osmond Monday night’s double performance was dedicated to her dad, who recently passed away. ABC Local.com
