The problem with Andretti Green Racing teammate Tony Kanaan was caused because Patrick and Marco Andretti did not let the championship contender go by during the July 26 race in Edmonton, Alberta, even though Kanaan was on a different fuel strategy.
Patrick insists she didn’t hear the instruction, but she got the message team owner Michael Andretti delivered in a heated session following the race.
Andretti was angry his son and Patrick didn’t do what they were told. Neither driver is realistically in contention for the season title. Marco Andretti argued he was fighting for a victory.
“I think if I am in that situation (again) . . . I’ll help Tony,” Patrick said at Kentucky Speedway, where the Meijer Indy 300 will be held this weekend. “I’ll do that.”
