Meijer and Coca-Cola also will be associate sponsors of IndyCar Series driver Danica Patrick’s No. 7 Andretti Green Racing machine for the full 17-race series slate that will stage its next event April 29 at Kansas Speedway. The 25-year-old driver, who earned one of her three IndyCar Series pole awards at Kentucky Speedway in 2005, will be featured in radio, television and print advertising leading up to the “Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Coca-Cola and Edy’s. ” The only woman to lead the Indianapolis 500 earned 2005 IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year honors after charting two top-five and seven top-10 finishes before closing out the season 12th in the championship standings. She finished ninth in the 2006 series standings after generating two top-five and eight top-10 finishes.
“We are pleased to be working with Danica and the entire Andretti Green Racing team this year, ” Meijer Director of Promotions and Partnerships Cathy Cooper said. “Our customers love the IndyCar Series and helping to bring its Kentucky Speedway race weekend to families in our markets is one more way we can connect to our communities. ”
Patrick and her fellow series drivers will take the green flag for the “Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Coca-Cola and Edy’s” at 6:30 p. m., on ESPN2. The race will be followed by the Indy Pro Series “Kentucky Indy Pro 100” at 9:30 p. m. Both races will be each series first twilight and night events on the 1.5-mile tri-oval track at the 66,089-seat venue.
The closing weekend of the 2007 Kentucky Speedway season opens one night before with “Radio Disney AM 680 Fanfest. ” The special night will feature family entertainment including live music from Radio Disney, along with a driver autograph session in the garage area following a full afternoon of IndyCar Series and Indy Pro Series track activity. All visitors will receive free pit and garage area access throughout the day.
