Paul Tracy is one of two drivers seriously being considered by KV Racing Technology for a full time ride in the 2009 IndyCar series.
Team co-owner Jimmy Vasser says he is in talks with Tracy but adds he will need some corporate support from American and Canadian companies to seal the deal.
“I know he has some sponsors that he is working on,” Vasser said. “I just thought it would be a good idea if we worked together.”
Last season, Tracy’s open-wheel career came to a grinding halt after Gerald Forsythe elected not to field a team in the newly merged IndyCar Series. He managed to get a ride for the Edmonton Grand Prix after Vision Racing was able to lock up a one-race sponsorship deal with Subway. In a car he had never raced before, prepared by Derrick Walker, Tracy finished fourth after starting well back in the field.
