Patrick is making her first start on the Gold Coast this weekend in the Nikon Indy 300, the 18th event of the 2008 IndyCar Series season.

The 26-year-old won her first IndyCar Series race in April this year when she claimed victory on the 1.5-mile Motegi oval in Japan.

Patrick rose to fame in 2006 when she led the Indianapolis 500, eventually finishing fourth and winning top rookie honours.

This season the driver from Phoenix, Arizona finished sixth in the points standings, with three top five and 10 top 10 finishes in the #7 Motorola Honda/Dallara/Firestone of Andretti-Green Racing.
