Robbie Pecorari, driving the #13 Cabo Wabo Tequila / Team KMA Racing entry in the Indy Pro Series captured a commanding 3rd place starting position for tomorrow’s Sunbelt 100 race at the Nashville Superspeedway.
“Who said a number 13 black car, driven on Friday the 13th is a bad thing? ” exclaimed Pecorari. “The #13 Cabo Wabo Tequila car was perfect today. It’s rare that a driver gets a car this good to drive. We’ve made some changes in our program at Iowa and we’ve seen some huge benefits since then. I really want to thank my crew, they’ve worked hard to help me get here. Its great knowing that I’ll finally be able to start up front and not have to battle my way through the field. “
When asked about his prediction for tomorrow’s race, Pecorari laughed, “No race is ever easy to win, but its Julie’s (Team co-owner, Jon Lewis’ wife) birthday tomorrow and winning would be a great present. “
Pecorari has been the 3rd and 4th fastest driver in each practice session of the weekend and is coming off a race at Watkins Glen last week, which saw him advance 11 positions (more than any other driver). “Robbie’s a very strong driver and he’s been quick all weekend, ” commented Jon Lewis. “He is a very focused young man and knows what he has to do to win. We’ve had some pretty strong finishes this year (2 top-5’s and 2 top-10’s) and all starting from back in the field, so starting in 3rd is a huge plus”.
