Ryan Briscoe captured the pole for the ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt 225 while his Penske Racing teammate Helio Castroneves, the reigning Indianapolis 500 champion, crashed during Saturday’s qualifying at The Milwaukee Mile.
Briscoe, who won his first career IndyCar Series race at Milwaukee one year ago, set a new track qualifying record with a four-lap time of one minute, 26.7966 seconds (168.394 m.p.h.) for his first pole of the season and the fifth in series career.
“I knew when I was in front of (Graham) Rahal it was going to be good,” Briscoe said. “I was a bit worried about my teammate (Helio Castroneves).” MiamiHerald.com
“I’ll be looking in my mirrors for sure,” Briscoe said.

Castroneves said traffic on the flat Milwaukee Mile circuit would be difficult.
“Things happen very fast and you have to have a good car and be a little lucky, too,” he said.
Graham Rahal, 20, was second-fastest in qualifying - unable to add to the two pole positions he has already claimed this season.
Brazilian Tony Kanaan, still smarting from a crash in the Indy 500 last week, still managed to qualify third.
