Sarah Fisher Racing returned to the track at ChicagoLand Speedway with Sarah Fisher radioing to her crew that she was “flat” on Lap 2 during the morning practice session. Although Fisher failed to mirror her speeds from the afternoon practice session in Peak Motor Oil qualifications, her engineer promises her car is consistent and will compete on race day. The No. 67 Dollar General Stores machine will start from Row 10 after qualifying with a speed of 213.389 miles per hour.
“The Dollar General car just didn’t have the speed to be up front today but we do have a consistent race car just as we did in Kentucky,” said Fisher, who has a previous best start at ChicagoLand Speedway of 12th and came in 2006. “We have to go back and look at the data and see where we can improve. We ran well at Kentucky with a 16th place starting position, so we’ll be ok on race day.”
SFR hit the track early in the morning for the first practice session at ChicagoLand Speedway in the No. 67 Dollar General Stores Honda turning 77 laps with a quick time of 214.883 mph. In session two, Fisher turned her quickest lap of the two sessions, clocking in a speed of 215.065 mph, after 33 laps good enough for 11th on the speed charts prior to afternoon qualifications. Dixon was the quickest of the day with a speed of 217.919 mph.
During qualifications, Fisher was fifth out to have her turn for the Peak Motor Pole Award, turning four consistent qualification laps of, 213.191 mph, 213.298 mph, 213.582 mph and 213.486 mph. Although she was disappointed with her speed, the team is confident they will run a solid race on Sunday in the Peak AntiFreeze and Motor Oil Indy 300.
