Sarah Fisher qualified her Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) No. 67 Dollar General Stores in the 16th position for tomorrow night’s Meijer Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway. This will only be the team’s second start of the 2008 IndyCar Series season.
“We really tried to focus on a good car for the race tomorrow night instead of qualifying,” said Fisher, whose best finish at Kentucky Speedway is third. “We’re excited to be here with Dollar General who brought us back to the racetrack after our long month of May. Our entire team is just really happy to be back. I think for our second race together as a team, we aren’t doing too bad.”
Fisher was 16th out to try her hand at qualifying at her favorite track turning a four-lap average of 216.557, slightly quicker than her fastest during practice, 216.652 mph. Fisher turned 124 laps during practice sessions with a focus on race setup. Scott Dixon took the Peak Motor Oil Pole Award with Vitor Meira to start second. Fisher is the highest qualified female driver with Milka Duno stated to start 18th and Danica Patrick will start from the rear of the field.
