Milka Duno’s just glad to be back—back in Sonoma and back in an IndyCar.
“This place brings me good results,” said the Venezuelan driver during Thursday’s test session in preparation for the Aug. 23 Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma. “I like this track. It’s very tough.”
Duno looked right at home at Infineon Raceway. She had a couple misadventures during testing, but still posted a solid time of 1 minute, 23.3 seconds around the road course.
“I don’t have the continuity of the other guys, so this test is important to me. I have to start getting better,” Duno said.
Still, it was Duno who stole the show. The former model caused a sensation, just walking between garages and signing autographs for her fans, male and female. The 5-foot-2-inch raven-haired beauty gets a lot of attention for her looks, but she’s also trying to build a positive reputation for her driving.
“Every chance I get helps for the next step. I hope to get more opportunities,” she said.
