Electric Karts The Way To Go

Grand Prix Kartways is one of the pioneers in the karting industry. The 47,000-square-foot indoor facility, which opened its doors in November of 2006, is the one of the few in Ontario that features electric karts.
Most other facilities, both indoors and outdoors, are still utilizing gas-powered karts.
“That’s the biggest thing about our facility,” Romeo said. “The environment is clean and there are no safety hazards.”
Instead of an age restriction, Grand Prix Kartways operates on a height limit. Junior racers must be 50 inches or taller, a height usually attained by the time a kid is 9 or 10.
The vehicles at Grand Prix Kartways, which cost as much as $9,000 each, are capable of travelling 100 kilometres per hour. But since they are being utilized on an indoor track, they are programmed to reach a top speed of 45 kilometres per hour.
