Mike did some off-season testing with Toronto-based Jensen MotorSport and team principal Eric Jensen, was impressed with Mike s ability to quickly adapt to the FB02. “Mike was a very willing student during our tests” noted Jensen. “ He had a great feeling for the car and most importantly, gave us some great feedback. Mike would also listen very carefully to our input after analysing data and then go out on track and show immediate improvement. ”
Fifteen year old Vincec will continue to compete in karts through 2007 for Hamilton, Ontario-based Cameron Motorsports driving the CMI/CRG/SwedeTech in ICC. The schedule includes competition in the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship and the Snap On Stars Of Karting series. Despite a rather full schedule, both series leave plenty of time for testing with Jensen in the Formula BMW. It is also the plan of Jensen MotorSport to enter a car for Mike in several races on the 2007 Formula BMW USA schedule, including the Montreal Grand Prix event in June in support of the Formula 1 cars.
On that point Mike offered, ”Eric and I agree that while testing is always good, there is no substitute for wheel-to-wheel racing to improve your skills. ” He continued, “It will be a real bonus to get some actual race laps in this season before making a concerted effort in 2008. ”
Jensen MotorSport has contested the Formula BMW USA series since its inception in 2004 and is now building a development ladder into Champ Car Atlantic where the team will field three cars in 2007.
Mike will next be on track April 13-15 for the Stars of Karting Race of The Americas in Norman, Oklahoma.
