NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: News And Notes - Talladega Superspeedway |
With two wins in the first round of the 2007 Florida Winter Tour already on the books, 15 year old Mike Vincec is hoping for another strong weekend in the series and extend his points lead in the Senior ICC class. The Cameron Motorsports driver swept the podium at the Homestead, Florida circuit back in January also taking the pole position for the Sunday race. The team is back at Homestead for round two, although the course has been reconfigured for this event.
“I looking forward to this weekend and can’t wait to start testing on Friday, “ offered Mike. “My tuner Brian (Bettencourt) is already at the track for last weeks Group A event and he will have already collected some data on the new layout for us to work with. That gives me confidence going into round two. “
Mike will hit the track Friday (16th) in his Cameron Motorsports CRG/Swedetech for a shakedown and then a full day of testing. He currently holds a 25-point advantage in the series standings after two races but the competition is close and Mike will need another strong weekend to make a run on the championship. “I race against a lot of these guys in other series and they are tough and very competitive” noted Mike, “and they will all be after the win. You do not count out anybody in this series when the competition is so close. “ He continued, “You just hope for a good day with no problems and that in a championship, any points are good for the cause. “
Round two of the Florida Winter Tour takes place February 17 & 18 at Homestead Miami Speedway, Florida. The series wraps up March 17 & 18 at the Ocala Grand Prix circuit in Ocala, Florida.
