Under threatening skies, the late model feature got underway Friday night at the Grundy County Speedway in Morris, but the race ended at the halfway mark due to rain that began pelting the speedway.
Although it only lasted 15 laps before it was halted, there was a lot of action on the track when the first and second place cars of Eddie Hoffman Jr. and Brett Sontag made contact as they battled for the lead.
With Hoffman put to the back of the pack, Scott Dunning, who was running third at the time, inherited the lead, but before the green could again fly, rain began falling on the speedway. After a short rain delay, the race was declared complete, giving Dunning his first win of the season.
