A1 Team Pakistan was back on track today, for the firstday of the A1GP Brands Hatch, Great Britain. Taking partin the final round of the 2007/08 season, Adam Khan wasbehind the wheel of the Pakistan car, representing hisnation alongside drivers from 21 other countries.

Having completed nine rounds in eight different countriessince the season opener in the Netherlands lastSeptember, A1 Team Pakistan are keen to add to theirpoints tally in Great Britain this weekend.

Taking part in the traditional pre-race PR event, Adam Khan participated in a different type of sport earlier thisweek – joining drivers from ten other nations at Kent County Cricket Club near central London for a quickgame of the British sport. In wet and slippery conditions, the drivers and cricketers took to the pitch, with theprofessional cricketers choosing to bat first.

Having taken a short break while rain suspended play, the A1GP drivers took to the crease to bat, chasingKent’s score of 48 runs.

Great Britain’s Robbie Kerr, captain of the A1GP squad, opened the batting for his team in the trickyconditions. Despite some enthusiastic fielding from the drivers’ team and some skilful bowling from Pakistan’sAdam Khan, the Kent side managed to beat the A1GP All Stars by one run. The final score was 48-47.

Returning to a more familiar sport this afternoon, Khan was back at the wheel of his A1GP machine to takepart in practice for the UK round of the season. The Pakistan driver completed 32 laps around the twisting4km long track to set the 19thfastest time of the afternoon.

Speaking about the team’s practice session Khan said, “I think we made some good progress in the practicesession today. As I’m unable to take part in the rookie session I took the opportunity to walk to the other sideof the track with my driver coach Danny Watts and watch some of the other drivers. It’s always useful to seewhat the others drivers are doing and who is quickest. In the practice session this afternoon we bedded innew brakes and I reacquainted myself with the circuit. We’ve gathered some very useful which will help usimprove tomorrow and I’m confident that we’ll see quite a big improvement in our times before the qualifying sessions.”

Team Manager John Allen added, “It was a useful day today, Adam was getting to grips with the circuit and wegathered lots of good data. This is a very complex and technical circuit, and I think there are a couple ofcorners where we are losing some time, but we’ve identified what improvements need to be made and shouldbe able to make up quite a bit of time tomorrow.”
