Brands Hatch will host the first ever ‘Air Ambulance Race Day’, where all revenue raised from ticket sales will be donated directly to the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance Service.
Every penny from each ticket purchased at the race meeting will be given straight to the air ambulance service. As well as contributing to an extremely worthwhile local charity, spectators can enjoy an action-packed programme of car races including Club Formula 3 single-seaters, Alfa Romeos and the European Saloon Car Championship.
In addition to spectacular racing action, staff and crew from the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance Trust will be on hand to speak to spectators about the life-saving work that the charity undertakes at a special exhibition stand.
Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of MotorSport Vision, said: “I am delighted that we have created this unique initiative of a special Air Ambulance Race Day at Brands Hatch. The Surrey Air Ambulance played a vital role in saving my son Jolyon’s life last August when it flew him from my Sussex home after a serious quad bike accident to the London Hospital, where he was operated on within 15 minutes of arriving to stop serious internal bleeding. The crew were superb – the doctor on board, Zane, rapidly and accurately assessed Jolyon’s critical condition and the pilot Pete Barnes is one of the best in the country. The message is clear – the existence of the air ambulance may save anyone’s life and simply has no substitute. It has no NHS funding and we must support it to maintain it’s presence in our area”.
Jill Playle, Director of Communications for the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance service, added: “We are really excited about this first ever Air Ambulance Race Day and we are grateful to Brands Hatch for their help. It is a great way for people to enjoy a fantastic day out and support their local air ambulance service, as the money raised from this day will ultimately help us to save lives”.
The race day is part of an ongoing link between Brands Hatch and the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance Service. Earlier this year, the air ambulance landed on the grid at the circuit and members of the crew displayed Brands Hatch patches on their uniforms to mark the new relationship between the two organisations.
