SPARTA, Kentucky – While part-time ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Brett Hudson is known for his short-track brilliance, the Owensboro, Kentucky native has recently developed a new edge for speedway racing. In addition to stout efforts on the short tracks last year Hudson delivered with top-10 efforts at the intermediate tracks of Kentucky Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway respectively.
With his new success on the mile-and-half-tracks, Hudson now returns to Kentucky Speedway this weekend hoping to keep the early success alive and bring his Brett Hudson Motorsports (BHM) team home with another noteworthy performance in Saturday night’s Drive Smart! Buckle Up Kentucky 150.
“We’re looking forward to Kentucky Speedway this weekend,” said Hudson, who plans to make his second start at the Sparta, Kentucky facility Saturday. “Our team has worked hard to make sure that the success we’ve had at Kentucky continues this weekend.”
Hudson continued, “Kentucky Speedway has a lot of significance to me. It’s a home track for me. Although three hours from where I live, Kentucky Speedway offers us a lot of support and we don’t plan to disappoint anyone Saturday night.”
For the third time in the team’s history, the team will roll out their No. 39 Hudson Machine Dodge Charger hoping to continue the early strength of the Charger under the lights Saturday night.
“This Dodge has been one heck of a piece,” Hudson sounded. “We raced it twice last year at Kentucky (July) and Chicagoland Speedway and it brought two top-10 finishes. We’ve cleaned it up and double checked everything with the intent to bring home our first top-10 finish of the season this weekend.”
Hudson continued, “We keep saying that we would be happy with a top-10 finish, but I think the improvements we’ve made to this team have the potential to carry us into the top-five. We have good motors, a hard-working dedicated team. I just have to be flawless behind the wheel.”
Hudson kicked off his 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season at Salem Speedway in April. While the track is listed as one of Hudson’s favorites, the race didn’t go as planned.
