The Rizla Suzuki MotoGP team ran their GSV-R800 prototypes with a special edition sticker to mark 20 years of sponsorship from French company Motul at round five.
Paul Denning, MotoGP Manager for Rizla Suzuki, was proud to see his riders Chris Vermeulen and Loris Capirossi running special commemorative Motul stickers on their GSV-R800s as they raced to fifth and seventh place finishes respectively on Sunday in France at round five.
“We are very pleased to have run with a small celebration sticker, supplied to us by our partner Motul, a French lubricants company,´ explained Denning. `As 2008 is the twentieth consecutive year of Suzuki and Motul being partners in MotoGP.”
“It started in 1988 with Pepsi Suzuki and Kevin Schwantz and every year since then, with all the different technological requirements, of course the two-strokes changed a lot, and then there was the 990cc four-stroke and now the 800cc four-stroke. We have now been working together for 20 years.”
“I´m not sure if I will be here in 20 years time to discuss it again!´ joked the Englishman. `But we look forward to continuing and developing our ongoing relationship.”
