David Martinez To Compete In A1GP Season Finale At Brand Hatch

Monterrey, Mexico – David Martinez announced today that he will return with Team Mexico to compete in the season finale of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsports, which will take place in Brands Hatch on May 4th.  Martinez drove the Team Mexico car this year during the rookie sessions at the Mexico City event, but now he will take over the main driving duties and be part of the full weekend. The Monterrey native has just returned from Long Beach, California where he scored his career best finish in the last ever Champ Car race.

Martinez made his A1GP debut in 2005 at the Lausitzring where he scored his first top ten in the series. His second and last start was in South Africa where once again he placed inside the top ten.  Since then the 26 year old has spent his time competing in Champ Car and ALMS events.
“I’m really happy to be back in A1GP after all this time.  Last month I got a little taste of it but now I’ll have the chance get more laps in and be as competitive as possible.  It’s going to be difficult to fight with the top teams because they have been developing their setups all year, but I think there is some potential and we are going to do everything we can to get the Mexico car in front.  I’ve never been to Brands Hatch before but I know it is a very exciting racetrack, I’m very relaxed and I plan on enjoying every single lap and closing out the season as strong as possible for Team Mexico so we can begin preparations for the 2008-09season”- said Martinez.
