After placing in the top ten in last week’s Indianapolis 500, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing teammates Buddy Rice and Townsend Bell came into this weekend’s race at the historic Milwaukee Mile with optimism for continued success and for the chance to build momentum for the rest of the
season.
After Saturday’s practice sessions and qualifying, however, the team wasn’t quite where they wanted to be on the time and speed charts.
Both drivers battled windy conditions while trying to dial in their race cars. The qualifying efforts for both teams were some of the fastest laps the two had run all weekend, but still didn’t allow the two to climb very high onto the starting grid.
Still, both drivers feel confident that they can put in solid race performances based on the success the two have had on the one-mile oval as well as what they have learned in the two practice sessions.
#15 DREYER & REINBOLD RACING Honda Dallara Driver Buddy Rice
“It’s been okay for us. We’ve struggling since we got here. We had a strong car here last year. That run was the fastest we have been all weekend and most consistent. We’ll go back and look at our data and see if we can’t make it better for the race. We’ve got a lot of work to do.”
#23 EMU/DREYER & REINBOLD RACING Honda Dallara Driver Townsend Bell
“I got really sideways on the first lap so I had to get out of it and I lost a lot of time there. The rest of the laps were pretty good. We basically qualified with our race setup. Our Emu Australia car looks great this weekend, and hopefully, we can put together the good result this team deserves.”
