Jacques Villeneuve Scored First Motorsport Victory In Belgium jv-world.com

Jacques Villeneuve scored his first major motorsport victory at the Le Mans event at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

The former Formula One world champion teamed with Marc Gene and Nicolas Minassian to win the Spa 1000km race. Villeneuve used the race as a tune up for next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans where he will compete once again with the Peugeot team.

“It’s a great feeling, to get back to the winning circle,” Villeneuve said.

“It’s great to see the top step. You have to try and remember where it is, so that you can get the champagne shower again.”

The win was Villeneuve’s first since the 1997 Luxembourg Grand Prix and it was the third straight this season for the Peugeot team, which will look to knock rival Audi off the top perch at Le Mans.
