Logano closed out his first day as a NASCAR Nationwide Series driver by putting up the second quickest lap in the second practice session of the day Friday for the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Dover International Speedway.

“The first practice we never got it where we wanted it to be,” Logano said. “We worked on it a lot. By the time we got it semi-close the tires wore out. I went out for the second practice, scuffed a set of tires and it felt better.”

In the second practice, with most teams looking for race setups rather than qualifying setups, Logano was second fastest behind his teammate Denny Hamlin.

Logano turned 52 laps in the second practice session with a fast lap of 151.400 mph. Hamlin led the practice at 151.688.

“[Hamlin] is up there, we should be up there too,” Logano said. “The speed is there. I’m not sure we’re good enough for a pole yet. We’ll see. We got it close. First time out this is a place that you’re not going to get it right. You’re not going to get it where you want it to be. So we’re trying to get all the tightness out of it. It’s just a track where everyone says you push and push and push. Eventually we’re going to get it to turn. We’ve got the thing stupid loose now.”
