Lewis Hamilton’s dad yesterday proved it’s not all in the genes by spectacularly pranging this £330,000 Porsche.
Anthony Hamilton shunted the 205mph Carrera GT through a hedge and careered into an empty children’s play area moments after leaving home.
A shaken Mr Hamilton, 47, who manages the career of his Formula One son, then staggered back to the front door of his luxury house in Tewin, Herts.
“He was really trying to get it out of there,” the bystander said. “In the end his wife walked back to the house and picked him up in another car. She came back a couple of times but we never saw him again. He was really embarrassed.”
The accident left the silver Porsche Carrera GT with a broken rear light and two large cracks in the body work below it.
Mr Hamilton said: “This is my first crash in almost 30 years and it had to happen in someone else’s car.
“Thankfully the only thing hurt was the car, and a bush fence – for which I am extremely sorry.”
