Indianapolis, IN - Mario Dominguez made contact with the wall at pit exit in today’s practice for the Indy 500. He was not injured. The entire field has been sidelined the last two days due to substantial rainfall.
Dominguez completed 18 laps prior to the incident. Track time is crucial for the rookie team and they do not have a rolling spare car. The PCM squad will repair the car as quickly as possible to try to return to the track today, however heavy rain is expected to return in the next few hours. Should Dominguez return to the track today, additional notes will be released.
Mario on the day: “I am really disappointed. I was returning to the track for our second full run and I exited too fast coming out of the pits. I lost the rear of the car and crashed into the inside wall. I got a few laps at speed and this is so unfortunate because we were on the way to making our car better. Everyone is telling me to keep my patience. We are already behind and I guess I was trying to rush it back out there. We are working hard and we have a lot of work to do.”
