Mark McNally completed 112 laps of Winton Raceway yesterday in preparation for the upcoming round of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at Victoria’s Sandown Raceway.
After heavy damage at Wakefield Park the Brad Jones Racing Team repaired and prepared the car perfectly for the Winton test.
“The guys did a fantastic job, ” Mark said.
“The car did not put a foot wrong all day and it is a testament to their skill and quality of preparation. ”
Mark’s test day didn’t start well, in fact he struggled to get out of Perth airport with flights continually delayed.
Eventually, after having a 1.30pm flight, and not leaving Perth until after 6pm Mark arrived in Benalla at 2am in the morning.
“Five hours sleep is not the ideal start to a test day, but I just had to deal with it. ” Once on the track Mark had a successful day with some long runs in preparation for Sandown.
“At times we were almost as fast as the main series guys which was pretty good given the tyres we had available. ”
Sandown Raceway will suit Mark’s car as it is a track where horsepower is very important. “The car should be good at Sandown but I have not raced a V8 there before, ” he said.
“Some of the guys have regularly raced endures over the past few years so they will have a bit of a head start over me.
“With the help of the BJR guys it shouldn’t take long to get onto the pace. ” Round 3 of the Fujitsu V8 Series is at Sandown Raceway on 8-9 June.
