Morgan Lucas Desires To Win At Atlanta

COMMERCE, Ga. – The Lucas Oil Racing team headed by Morgan Lucas at the wheel is charging into Atlanta Dragway for the running of the 28th annual Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals with a strong desire to see more win lights in their lane.
After a successful outing in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago, resulting in a quarterfinals finish, has perked the interest of the 24-year old driver from Brownsburg, Indiana, into feeling that winning his first NHRA National event is just around the corner.
“We’re so close to getting our program turned around,” said an inspiring Lucas.  “It’s been a difficult chore to say the least having John Stewart (crew chief) tune two cars and learning the nuances of each one giving the car what it wants in making it perform up to par.  The warm weather predicted this weekend in Atlanta will level the field and your clutch setup will be so important.”

Lucas’ recent resurgence is a time-process procedure with many components that need to come together and a strong performance on the track is will be just what he will require from his team to move forward in the standings.  The Lucas Oil crew is calculating good things to come and it’s imperative for them to make a good showing at Atlanta Dragway.
“It’s so important that we end up having good results in Atlanta,” said Lucas.  “The season is progressing along and we need to get things in gear.  We still have plenty of time to mount a charge for a top 10 position in the Top Fuel standings, but we want to make a charge now to secure our place in the POWERade Championship.  The next couple of months are pivotal for us and it’s important we start making more progress.”
Morgan Lucas’ first Top Fuel Low E.T. qualifying award was in 2005 at the Atlanta Dragway when he recorded a time of 4.541 seconds, 326.40 mph.  His best race performance was in 2006 when he advanced to the semi-finals.
