Next season will feature a significant amount of changes to the technical regulations, as issued by the International Automobile Federation (FIA). And seeing the amount of work that will be needed in preparation for the next campaign, team bosses admit it is crucial to begin developing their “all-new” cars from now.
“Yes, I can confirm we are working very hard on this at the moment because next year, the cars will be completely different,” Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali said.
“It’s a completely new project, a completely new design and new shape, plus we have the ‘KERS’ (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems). This year, for sure, is very challenging for us, but I’m pretty sure it is also the same for the other teams.”
Next season, changes will be implemented to an F1 car’s bodywork, vehicle weight, and tyre size. The KERS system will also be implemented. It is designed to recover some of the vehicle’s kinetic energy normally dispelled as heat during braking.
“We’re working hard for it,” Toyota motor sport president John Hewett said.
