Will Power has turned in yet another top 10 qualifying performance by qualifying eighth for the Bombardier Learjet 550 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas today.

Power will start tomorrow’s race from the outside of the fourth row in the #8 Aussie Vineyards – Team Australia car in his debut event at the ultra-fast 1.5-mile oval.

The Australian driver has been concentrating hard on race set-ups in practice to ensure he scores a solid finish as he seeks to jump back into the top 10 in the 2008 IndyCar Series standings. Power was 15th fastest in final practice earlier today.

The 27-year-old from Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia sees the Bombardier Learjet 550 as his toughest challenge this season but has taken a liking to the fast venue as he continues to learn and adapt to oval racing.

Scott Dixon won the PEAK Motor Oil Pole today at Texas Motor Speedway ahead of Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe.

“KVRT Aussie Vineyards – Team Australia is just happy we got a good qualifying run in,” said Power.

“We have to race well, but the team has been working hard on the race set-up over the last couple of days.

“The main thing for me is to finish well in the race. I have qualified well and hopefully it will be a good race tomorrow.”

Craig Gore: Aussie Vineyards - Team Australia

“This is the great qualifying performance from Will and the Aussie Vineyards team,” said Gore.

“Texas is a tough place but Will has started off on the right foot. Eighth is an outstanding performance and will set him up well for the race.

“A strong finish is the priority and it’s a long, demanding race. We are all right behind Will and the Aussie Vineyards – Team Australia guys and I’m confident they can get the job done.”
