Racing Action Returns to The Susquehanna Speedway Park For York County Racing Club



Racing action returns to the Susquehanna Speedway Park for York County Racing Club (YCRC) Night on Saturday night, May 19 with the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late Models and Street Stocks. Last Saturday night, a late afternoon rain storm washed out the evening’s racing program. All YCRC members showing a membership card at the ticket booth will receive a $5.00 discount for an adult or teen grandstand ticket.

The second of six Young Guns Street Stock 5-lap dash races presented by Clean Technologies will also take place on Saturday night. The dash features all drivers ages 21 and younger. Last month, Eric Walker won the first Shoot-out dash and leads the point series going into round two. The champion of the six race series will collect $100.00 with $50.00 going to second and $25.00 to third and fourth place.

A change has been made by SSP management to adjust the time schedule for Saturday racing events. Everything will start one hour later. The pit gates will open 4:30 p. m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p. m. Warmups begin at 6:30 p. m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p. m. The national anthem will be at 8:00 p. m. followed by last chance consolation races and feature events.


Then on Sunday night, May 20, the ASCS Sprint Cars will compete in a local show paying $1,200 to the winner. Also joining the Sprint Cars will be the Xtreme Stock Cars, Classic Cars and the Speedway Auto Sales Mini Vans.

Last Sunday night’s racing action at the Susquehanna Speedway Park found Ray Bull winning the ARDC wingless Midget feature. Ronnie Dunstan won again in the Central PA Legends Cars and John Stoll, Jr. in the Four Cylinder Stock Cars. Kendra Knaub won the Women on Wheels (W. O.W. ) Stock Cars. This race was the 100th racing event under the ownership of Rhonda and Todd Fisher since they purchased the facility during the winter of 2003.

According to sources, Lucas Wolfe’s two race win streak in ASCS Sprint Cars at SSP will come to an end on Sunday as Kenny Jacobs from Holmesville, Ohio will be a substitute driver for Wolfe on Sunday. Wolfe’s other racing commitments prevents him from extending the streak, but Jacobs will attempt to make it three in a row for car owner, Rick Kaylor. Jacobs is also expected to return on Thursday, May 24 for the ASCoT National Sprint Car race at SSP featuring the best 360 Sprint Car drivers in the country taking on the best from the ASCS Mid-Atlantic region. National stars expected tom compete include Gary Wright, Jason Johnson and Kenny Adams.
