Five IMCA divisions headline Friday night cards this season at I-70 Speedway, with sanctioned dirt track racing poised to make a big splash with drivers and fans in the Show- Me State.

The 3/8 mile track at Odessa opened with an October special last fall. The pairing with Saturday night venue Winston Speedway puts competitors in the driver’s seat for runs at state, regional and national titles.

The Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway will feature the IMCA Modified, Stock Car, Northern SportMod and Crate Model divisions. I-70 also becomes the first track in Missouri to sanction the 4-cylinder IMCA Sport Compact class on its weekly program.

Northern SportMods, an economical version of the familiar IMCA Modified, are new to both tracks; I-70 and Winston share a feather in their respective caps in becoming the first tracks to sanction the Crate Model division, which requires use of a GM crate engine and is designed to complement IMCA’s existing Late Model program.

“Affordability and competitive, entertaining racing are key components to the success of local tracks, ” said Brett Root, vice president of operations for the Vinton, Iowa-based IMCA. “We’re extremely pleased with the sanction at I-70 Speedway, we look forward to a long association with the speedway and anticipate new growth in terms of car counts and fan following. ”
