You’ve heard of deer crossing signs, but after this week’s event, the Mount Panorama racetrack just west of Sydney, Australia may have to start posting some for kangaroos. A videographer caught an amazing image of a very brave marsupial darting across the track avoiding cars traveling in speeds close to 150 miles an hour.
Touring car drivers were preparing for the upcoming Bathurst 1000, which is a traditional race similar to the American NASCAR events, when the brave kangaroo hoped over the middle fence and began bounding across the track.
While the kangaroo can travel at about 40 miles per hour over short distances it was hardly a match for the stock cars that had to slam on their brakes to avoid the little guy.
The video shows several drivers swerving to avoid the roo as sparks fly from underneath their high-powered cars. Luckily neither the animal nor any of the race participants were injured.
