WoO: Kinser Prepare For This Week’s Stops In North Carolina

INDIANAPOLIS – The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series will head deep into the heart of NASCAR country this week as its competitors will entertain crowds at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway (LMS) in Concord, N.C., and Virginia Motor Speedway (VMA) in Jamaica, Va. While this part of the country is known to be the stomping grounds of NASCAR’s finest, Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Kraig Kinser and company will look to show race fans what mudslinging is really about.
As Kinser and the No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/Maxim team roll into the 4/10-mile clay oval that is The Dirt Track @ LMS, they’ll also be in Kinser’s new backyard. The Indiana native-turned-North Carolina resident lives in nearby Mooresville. Easily one of the most beautiful facilities that the WoO Sprint Series visits each season, The Dirt Track @ LMS also served as the site of the announcement that Kinser would join TSR last November.
In his last appearance at the track on Nov. 3, 2007, Kinser was credited with a 23rd-place finish. His father, Steve Kinser, won the A-main event. On Friday, Kinser, his TSR teammate Donny Schatz, and the other stars of the WoO Sprint Series will participate in the Rite-Aid Pit Party at The Dirt Track @ LMS from 4:30 – 6 p. m. EDT. Drivers will be on-hand to sign autographs for those fans that received Rite-Aid Pit Party vouchers for the event.
Kinser and the WoO Sprint Series will make their first appearance at the half-mile track. The series’ first visit to VMS will also be it’s first-ever appearance in the state of Virginia. Kinser will participate in an at-track autograph session at the facility prior to the beginning of the night’s racing activity.
Kinser enters the weekend ranked 16th in the WoO Sprint Series Championship standings. He has made eight series starts thus far in 2008, having earned one top-10 finish.

With this Friday’s race at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway being held in conjunction with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, do you expect to see some of your friends and competitors at the track?
“Anytime you run in an area that is also hosting a NASCAR event at the same time, it’s a lot of fun. It gives those teams a chance to spend some time at a winged Sprint car race. That’s something they don’t get to do very often and it’s great to have them around. I do expect to see some of the competitors from across the street at LMS on Friday night. I know that some of the Cup guys really like Sprint car racing. Most of the drivers and teams that I competed with in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will be in Mansfield this weekend, so I won’t get to see them. But it will be fun to race in this atmosphere. It’s great to have an opportunity to put Bass Pro Shops, Chevy and J. D. Byrider in front of an audience like the one we’ll have this weekend. ”
On Saturday, the World of Outlaws Sprint Series will visit a track that it’s never competed at before. Are the Chevy engines that the TSR team competes with going to be an asset on the half-mile of Virginia Motor Speedway?
“Our engine program is definitely going to be an asset this weekend. The Chevy’s that Paul Kistler and Kistler Engines builds for us have been really good this season. And they’ve had us hooked up, especially on the bigger horsepower tracks. The Chevy’s have been giving us great power and getting me around the track really well. At tracks like LMS and VMS, horsepower is a key part of your success. They’re both bigger tracks that carry a lot of speed. Our engines are definitely going to give us the tools we need to do well at both facilities. ”
