World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series- First Ever Visit To Virginia Motor Speedway

Virginia Motor Speedway

Jamaica, VA – It has been a long process, nine years in the making. Now it is just eight days away. Saturday, May 24th will mark the first ever visit by the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA for the Armed Forces Appreciation 30 presented by Thurston Spring Service, Inc. Not only is it the first ever visit by the nation’s top sprint car drivers to the speedway, it is also the series first ever trip to the Commonwealth State.

There’s something to be said about “first” times. There is only one! This historic event is not only highly anticipated by the fans but also the World of Outlaws competitors.

Two-time defending Champion Donny Schatz, driver of Tony’s Stewart Racing’s #15 Armor All sponsored J&J can’t wait for the opportunity to race at the pristine Virginia Motor Speedway. “We’ve heard nothing but great things about the facility and the surface there at Virginia Motor Speedway; we are really looking forward to seeing if it as nice as we have heard. Anytime you go to a new event and facility we want to win, hopefully we can give the crowd a thrill, bring home a win and win over some new fans.”

Another driver with NASCAR ties is Joey Saldana, driver of Kasey Kahne’s #9 Budweiser sponsored JEI. Saldana is equally as excited about visiting Virginia Motor Speedway. “I can’t wait; I’m looking forward to seeing Virginia Motor Speedway. If it is anything close to what Danny Lasoski has been telling us, it is going to be a great race for the fans. Hopefully we have a great crowd and get to return because it is definitely a track and area where the Outlaws need to race.”

The hottest driver on World of Outlaws tour has to be Clovis, California’s Jason Meyers. Meyers has won four of the eight series events to date and is current the World of Outlaws point leader. As the tour continues its East Coast swing, one date that has been marked on Meyer’s calendar is the tour’s first event at Virginia Motor Speedway.

“I can’t wait to see it (VMS); everyone tells me it is big and fast, which is right up my alley. We have been looking forward to this race all year long, it will give us a chance to use all our Charlie Garrett horsepower,” commented Meyers.

“Everyone always looks forward to a new venue and event; hopefully we can continue the momentum that we have right now and put on a great show for the Virginia fans,” added Meyers.

Also scheduled to race are 20-time World of Outlaws Champion Steve Kinser, Kraig Kinser, Craig Dollansky, Terry McCarl, Kerry Madsen, current track record holder Chad Kemenah, Jac Haudenschild, Daryn Pittman, Tim Shaffer, Jason Sides, Shane Stewart, Lucas Wolfe and a host of regional top guns.
