Jamaica, VA-- For the last 30 years, the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has visited tracks from coast-to-coast in nearly every state, but one state that has been absent from this list is Virginia. That will all change on Saturday, May 24 as the series makes their inaugural visit to the state-of-the-art Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia. This will be one of four tracks that the series will visit for the first time this season during their 30th Anniversary celebration.
This will be just the second ever 410-sprint car that Virginia Motor Speedway has hosted and the first since 2006. Chad Kemenah currently holds the track record in time trials at the track for 410-sprint cars. He turned a lap of 16.087 seconds in 2004. The overall track record which all the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers will be shooting for was set two years later at 15.864 seconds.
Kemenah, Tony Bruce Jr. and Sam Hafertepe Jr. are the only current Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers have competed at the pristine high-banked half-mile during their careers.
Kemenah, the 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year with the World of Outlaws competed at the high-banked half-mile in 2004 with the All Star Circuit of Champions and finished second in the A-Feature, after setting fast time and winning a heat race. The native of Findlay, Ohio is currently eighth in points with five Top-10 finishes this season.
Bruce and Hafertepe both competed at the high-banked half-mile, competing in an event with the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) in 2006.
Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion will look to add to his remarkable record of winning at tracks he visits for the first time with the series. He has accomplished this feat over 50 times in his career. He was victorious for the first time this season last Thursday night at Williams Grove Speedway in Pennsylvania which was his 544th career A-Feature win.
The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has competed seven times on half-mile tracks this season, with five different drivers picking up victories. Leading this list is current championship point lead Jason Meyers who won at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida along with Manzanita Speedway in Arizona. Overall, the native of Clovis, California has four A-Feature wins to lead the series.
