Brad Kuhn Leads All 30 Laps In Macon Midget Field

Wisconsin hosts three back-to-back USAC National Midget races this week as the battle for the 2007 USAC National Championship reaches a fever pitch.

Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, WIsc. is Friday’s venue, while the National Midget Auto Racing “Hall of Fame Classic” unfolds Saturday and Sunday nights at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie.

Jerry Coons Jr. of Tucson, Ariz. continues to lead in pursuit of his second consecutive National title, holding a 67-point lead over Darren Hagen in the most recent standings. Coons and Hagen finished 18th and fifth in Friday night’s race at the Macon (Ill. ) Speedway.

Brad Kuhn of Avon, Ind. led all 30 laps to win the Macon feature in his Quin Buildings Stealth/Mopar, beating Brad Loyet, Shane Hollingsworth, Dereck King and Hagen to the checkered flag.

Ryan Durst of Lincoln, Neb. won last year’s USAC portion of the “Hall of Fame Classic, ” while Scott Hatton of Roscoe, Ill. won the overall “Hall of Fame Classic” championship for the second straight year.

The 2007 “Hut Hundred, ” originally scheduled at the Terre Haute (Ind. ) Action Track September 8, has been removed from the calendar. No alternate site was available for the event and plans to restore the event on the 2008 calendar are already underway.
