Seven USAC Ford Focus races are slated this week, involving events in Nevada, Illinois, California, New York and Wisconsin. offering points toward five different championships.
California Pavement and Utah competitors will tackle Las Vegas (Nev. ) Motor Speedway’s Bullring Tuesday and the USAC/UMARA series continues Wednesday and Saturday at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. The Northeast series resumes Friday at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, New York and continues Saturday at Oswego (N. Y.) Speedway.
The California Pavement series also competes Saturday at Madera Speedway and Sunday night’s action involves the Midwest Series at Angell Park in Sun Prairie, Wisc.
Rain forced postponement of last Wednesday night’s program at the Plymouth (Ind. ) Speedway. The “tripleheader, ” including the Indiana, UMARA and Midwest Focus cars, has been rescheduled July 11 at Plymouth, replacing the originally-scheduled race that night at New Castle, Ind. NASCAR vet Ken Schrader, who was scheduled to compete at Plymouth, will return for the July 11 event.
Michael Sboro and Jon Seaman scored feature victories at Hickory (N. C.) Motor Speedway Saturday night. Sboro, of Mooresville, N.C., won the first 25-lapper, which offered Carolina Series points, beating Seaman, fast qualifier Andre Villareal, Tanner Swanson and Rick Fedrizzi. Seaman, of Southbury, Conn., beat Kyle Bonsignore, Mark Burt, Ryan Osborne and Michael Mohelski in the second, non-points-paying, 25-lap special event feature.
