Repeat winners and stirring finishes highlighted the eight racing features Saturday night at the Eastside Speedway.

First up on the schedule was Open Wheel Modified heat races. Tony Garber took the first heat and Joe Cox won the second.

The Grocery Getters started the feature racing as Ronnie Vandevander and Eric Shifflett led the pack to the green. Shifflett bolted to the front with Vandevander close behind. The two raced nose-to-tail, not letting anyone else join in the fun.

As the laps wound down, Randy Hunter and Tracy Goolsby made contact as both cars continued. At the restart, two laps remained as Shifflett and Vandevander kept the battle for themselves.

The battle for third heated up between Daniel Bowden, Todd Garrett and Keith Branch. On the final lap Bowden and Garrett collided. Garrett lost the handle and push up off turn 2. In the process, Garrett collected the outside wall and flatten both right side tires, limping to the checkered. At the checkers, Shifflett had another victory on the season, followed by Vandevander, Bowden, Eddie Moran and Goolsby.

The Street Stocks took the green flag with Dakota Riggleman and Bill Vandevander showing the way. On the start, Riggleman took command, bringing Charles Wyant and Chip Glass with him to the front.

At the halfway flag, Glass moved under Wyant to take second as Wyant battled door-to-door with Shaun Wetzel for third. As that race heated up, Glass worked to the inside of Riggleman for the lead.

The Sportsman feature saw Daniel Brown and Steve Landrum leading the field to the start. The caution flew on the initial start for a pileup in turn 4 involving Larry Johnson, Michael Alderman, Tommy Hoy and David Botkin. Hoy’s car was the only one able to restart.

The field realigned for a complete restart as Brown jumped to the lead with Landrum on his rear bumper. Mike Dudley pressured Ricky Fox for third as Fox held the position, while Derrick Rankin contested Roger Robertson for fifth with David Keith closing in to make it a three-way battle.

The next feature saw the Late Models. The luck of the redraw put Buck Roadcap and Lewis Hudson on the front row. Roadcap took the early lead with Hudson close behind.

The Mini-Modifieds were the final feature. Billy Carter took the early lead from the pole position. Tim Shulte overtook Carter and went on to post the victory. Carter finished second, followed by Ernie Alder and Kenny Clark.
