Ryan Godown’s modified was the superior car of the Grandview Speedway field last weekend, winning the 50-lap, 39th annual Forrest Rogers Memorial. Rogers was the originator of the Grandview Speedway, near Bechtelsville, in 1970.
Godown collected $10,000 - clearly his richest win of the season - in the NASCAR Whelan All-American 358 modified series race. Duane Howard pressured Godown during the final rounds of the race but had to settle for runner-up honors ahead of Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren and Ray Swinehart.
DIRT Nation Danny Johnson won the 100-lap, Mr. DIRT 358 B.B. Modified Summer National at Ransomville, collecting $4,000 on Saturday. ... Sunday’s B.B. modified race at the Cayuga County Fair on Sunday saw Jimmy Phelps finish first in a 35-lap race that saw 27 cars start the feature but only 12 mods finish….
