Teka Suzuki World MX1’s Ken De Dycker prepared for the upcoming intensive stretch of races in the 2009 FIM MX1 World Championship by taking his second overall victory in the Belgian Championship-United Telecom Trophy at Kester at the weekend.
The 24 year old enjoyed good starts in changeable weather conditions to finish second in the first moto and then win the following two races for his success. De Dycker apparently became the first Belgian to claim this prestigious round of the series since Stefan Everts in 2006.

Coming through the three sprints with no discomfort in the wake of recent injuries, De Dycker was also able to count on a decent full week of training before the Kester meeting. He was unlucky to lose a podium result at the Grand Prix of France the weekend prior after a broken footpeg forced him out of the second moto while holding second.
“It was good to win because the conditions were pretty hard and I had to throw away my goggles in the first moto,” he said. “Overall things went really well. My starts were excellent and of course that helps so much. From there it was pretty easy. I had a good week of training and aside from feeling a bit tired because of this the races went smoothly.”

De Dycker, who has won titles in the UK and Germany, leads the Belgian standings by 13 points.
Teka Suzuki World MX1 travels to the Talkessel circuit in Teutschental for the Grand Prix of Germany; followed immediately by trips to Latvia and Sweden.
