The first day of the British Grand Prix, and the seventh round of 15 in the 2009 FIM MX1 World Championship, has been hot and sunny and across the dry and rough bumps of Mallory Park, Teka Suzuki World MX1’s Ken De Dycker had to recover from a qualification heat crash to take 15th position in the gate.
Coming into the meeting after more than a week to recover from an injured shoulder and fractured right hand, De Dycker was struggling over the demanding terrain. The Belgian’s efforts were not assisted by a technical problem after the first practice session and he was forced to use his second RM-Z450.

After making minimal changes to his set-up, De Dycker unfortunately caught the rear wheel of another rider at the start of the 20 minute and two-lap heat and hit the ground. He spent the rest of the race recovering positions and managed to break into the top 15 by the chequered flag.
Ken De Dycker - 15th:
“My shoulder and wrist have felt pretty sore today and the bike problem did not help our preparation. I just caught the back wheel of Aranda at the start and went down. To be honest I am not looking at any special goal for tomorrow. I just want to do the best I can and hope I can finish as high up as possible.”
