Team Teka Suzuki Riders Steve Ramon & Ken de Dycker Head For Ireland

Team Teka Suzuki WMX1 riders Steve Ramon and Ken de Dycker enter the 13th round of the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship at Fairyhouse Racecourse near Dublin in Ireland this weekend.

The Fairyhouse circuit is a brand-new venue for motocross and is still currently being constructed after the wet weather that’s hit the Dublin area recently halted track building work. Designed by Youthstream’s Greg Atkins the track will be over 1600 metres in length and is expected to have 19 different jumps. Conditions at the circuit are expected to be deep with plenty of heavy mud to test the riders and machines.

Reigning MX1 World Champion Steve Ramon enters the race sat in second place in the series standings on his factory RM-Z 450. Unsure of what to expect in Ireland, Steve’s motivated to do well whatever the conditions as he’s keen to regain the red series leader’s number plate that’s worn by the MX1 series leader.

“There are only three rounds left now and every point counts - it is going to be a tough end to the season but I will try my best,” said Steve. “My riding is going good at the moment, my bike is working well and I’m feeling fit and strong so I’m quite confident I can regain the world title.”

De Dycker is currently embroiled in a three way fight for third place in the series and is looking forward to the final three races of the season including the Irish GP. “I’m not sure what the track will be like in Ireland but I’m expecting it to be heavy with all the wet weather I hear they’ve been having. Overall I’m looking forward to the next few rounds of the championship because I want to win some races and get up higher in the championship.”

The weather forecast for the weekend is for more rain in the Dublin area which has already seen record amounts recently while the temperature is expected to be around 18 degrees Celsius.
