In an all-out assault on the 2007 Australian Supercross Championship, Team Shift Motul Suzuki is on the hunt for the double crown in the Pro Open and Pro Lites classes.

In the Pro Open class, the Shift Motul Suzuki outfit will field a two-pronged assault with newly-crowned New Zealand Supercross Champion, Luke Burkhart and Supercross specialist Danny Ham.

Fresh from his victory in the 2007 New Zealand Supercross Championship, Burkhart is in scintillating form and is ready to step up and challenge for the Australian title.

Said Burkhart: “I’ve had a great start to the year and a really good build up to the start of the Aussie Supercross series.

“The Suzuki is performing really well and I won the NZ title pretty easily, but the competition and the tracks in Australia are much tougher, so I need to step it up a notch and I’m ready to do it.

“We’ve been testing the new RM-Z450 with new RG3 suspension and the bike is phenomenal so I’m looking for a solid start to the Supercross series.

Just as eager get the season underway, Burkhart’s team-mate Danny Ham is equally-capable of scoring a victory for Suzuki as he makes a welcome return to the Newcastle-based squad after recently competing in Europe.

Said Ham: “It’s been nearly a year since I’ve raced in Australia and it’s great to be back on board a Suzuki. The team has everything so well prepared that you always know you’ve got the equipment to win.

“The opening round of the season is where you gauge where you’re at in relation to the field. It’s really important to make a strong start because that gives you a solid base that sets you up for the remainder of the series. ”

Team Shift Motul Suzuki is also relying on the talents of Tim Weigand to replicate Suzuki’s supremacy in the New Zealand Supercross Championship in the Pro Lites class where Scott Columb claimed victory aboard the 2007 RM-Z250.

Re-entering the Pro Lites class for 2007 and debuting an exciting, new race bike, Team Shift Motul Suzuki is set to dominate the 2007 season with newly-recruited American rider, Weigand piloting the all-Suzuki RM-Z250.

Weigand dominated the early stages of the 2006 Australian Supercross season before being hampered by injury and is looking to prove a point with Suzuki in 2007.

He said: “I’ve had the chance to test the new RM-Z250 and it’s awesome.

“The Suzuki team has developed a fantastic race bike and we’ve already seen in New Zealand that the RM-Z250 can win a championship so I’m really looking forward to going racing in Adelaide. ”

The 2007 Australian Supercross Championship kicks off at Adelaide’s Wayville Showgrounds this Saturday, February 10th.

2 stats I looked up: KuBu won 4-of-5 Bristol races from '02-'04. 5 wins overall, none since 2006. Addington? He swept Bristol last season.

Don't look now, but 48 is gaining on 2. This could be a race after all. #nascar

Thirty laps to go. 2 car, in leading, approaching a mess of lapped traffic. 48 one second behind.

Carl and Brad K. are racing side by side, giving each other plenty of room. Racing side by side for several laps. #nascar

2 opens up a steady 1-second gap on 48 with 30 to go. Think I heard Double J right front was troublesome on handling again. #nascar

Caution for debris. Will it be a weekend sweep for Penske? #nascar
