Red Bull XRAY saw multiple world recorder holders, a flock of international superstars, local talent and one of the world’s most recognised action sports athletes and Australia’s own daredevil, Robbie Maddison, battle it out on Australia’s most technical and challenging natural terrain course over two action packed days. Consistent outstanding runs were required from the riders to take a chance at the $5,000 first place cheque.
Japanese export Taka Higashino and Robbie Maddison were clear favourites with both riders throwing in multiple flip combos and using the gigantic course to its potential. In the end however it was hometown favourite Maddison who strung together two incredible runs, flipping the whopping 130 foot tabletop in front of the judging tower and throwing the biggest tricks over the largest jumps on the course to beat Japan’s Taka Higashino.
“I’m pumped with the way the FMX came together,” explains Robbie. “Taka rode incredibly well all weekend, throwing in some impressive flip combos and he had a really smooth style. I really love coming back to ride this event as it’s such a fun atmosphere and the course is incredible. Hopefully we can turn it into an annual event soon.” Read Full Article
