The 22-year-old Vero Beach native is a professional Motocross racer who has spent the last 12 years traveling the world turning heads by tearing up dirt tracks and tackling jumps on her souped-up dirt bike.
“Tarah is an all-around beautiful girl who’s been competing in and winning Motocross competitions all over the world for years now,” grandmother Nancy Taylor, of Vero Beach, said. “I follow her career like a hawk, and am so proud of all her accomplishments.”
She was part of an elite group of 10 professional women Motocross riders who had been invited to compete for X Games gold during the inaugural Women’s Moto X racing contest Saturday in Los Angeles, Calif.
The nation’s leading female motocross rider Ashley Fiolek withdrew from Saturday’s inaugural Women’s Moto X Racing because a crash earlier in the week aggravated a broken wrist and added several more bumps and bruises.
Tarah Gieger of Puerto Rico won gold in the new event, Sherri Cruse took silver and Tatum Sik won bronze.
