Casey Stoner shrugged off concerns over a nagging wrist injury by posting the fastest time on day two of the Sepang test in Malaysia.
The Ducati rider, who complained of pain in his wrist yesterday, set a best time of set a two minutes 1.483 seconds to edge opening-day pace-setter Loris Capirossi into second place, 0.072 secs further back on the impressive Suzuki.
“The more I ride the GP9 the more we understand how to improve the set-up of the new chassis and we made a big step forward with improving grip and feel with the new bike.”
“Now I know that I can step up training on my arm and hopefully the situation will have improved for the Qatar test.” Stoner said.
The Ducati Marlboro rider had surgery over the winter to correct a wrist problem which plagued him last season as he lost his title to Fiat Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi.
Rossi, who finished the final day in second behind Stoner despite hand and foot injuries suffered in an accident at his home, said: “I am leaving this place feeling happy, because we’ve made a good start. Everything went well: my pain is less, the bike is good and I am feeling better and better.”
