Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa has claimed pole position for Sunday’s Spanish MotoGP in Jerez.
Pedrosa, who finished seventh in the opening race in Qatar, set a time of one minute, 39.202 seconds to finish ahead of Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo.
However, Pedrosa was not happy after qualifying, saying: “The bike is not working. There are a lot of problems.” BBC Sport
The six quickest riders were separated by less than half a second in a thrilling qualifying session with Lorenzo on a Yamaha and Australian Casey Stoner on a Ducati completing the front row of the grid.
World champion Valentino Rossi, who has been struggling with a bruised shoulder, headed the second row along with American Nicky Hayden and Frenchman Randy De Puniet.

Monster Yamaha Tech3 duo Colin Edwards and Ben Spies set the seventh and eighth quickest times respectively, with Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) and Marco Melandri (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team) also inside the tightly packed top ten.
The only fall of the session was for Aleix Espargaró (Pramac Racing) with 20 minutes remaining, and the Spaniard was fine to continue his qualifying. MotoGP
