The doctor overseeing Dani Pedrosa’s treatment following his testing accident in Qatar week cannot guarantee the Repsol Honda star will be fit for the opening round of the 2009 MotoGP World Championship next month.
Pedrosa was released from the USP Institut Universitari Dexeus hospital this morning, 72 hours after his admission, and told he remains confident he will be on the grid for the season-opener in Qatar.

‘I feel quite a lot better. When I arrived the truth is that the knee did not look very good, but the operation went well and I am pleased,’ said Pedrosa.
‘Now I have to rest a little as it is very important to give the body a break for the first few days, let things take their course, then I will start my recovery plan.
Two riders who have had their share of missed races through injury, Jorge Lorenzo and Toni Elias have both expressed their desire to see wounded rival Dani Pedrosa make a speedy recovery in time for the 2009 season’s opening race in Qatar.

“I hope that Pedrosa is in Qatar, because he is one of the riders that brings life to the World Championship, and without him there would be something missing from the grid,” said Lorenzo of his persistent foe.
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Elias had two particularly injury-filled years in 2007 & 2008, including a spell on the sidelines after a sever leg break in Assen. He gave a message of best wishes to his countryman at the presentation.
