JiR Team Scot: Gran Prix Of Malaysia - Preview

Sunday October 19th will see the penultimate Grand Prix of the 2008 season with the ‘long-haul’ rounds, which began a month ago in Indianapolis, USA. Since then the JiR Team Scot riders have been facing the challenges of Japan and Australia. The Malaysian circuit, which is 85 km from Kuala Lumpur, was opened in 1999 and built to the highest technological standards to offer the public a true spectacle, and the riders the optimal track conditions for competition. All the pits are equipped with air conditioning, and the tarmac was designed to ensure maximum grip even in the tropical, humid climate. Andrea Dovizioso and Yuki Takahashi are fully committed to consolidating their positions in their respective championships and aiming to give JiR Team Scot the best results possible.

Gianluca Montiron – Director – JiR Team Scot

“We arrive at the last two races of the season and we will now have to grit our teeth to stay in the top five of MotoGP, which is our goal this season. The two long straights of Sepang often show the difference between factory and private race bikes. Andrea will have to dig deep into his wealth of talents to do well in these last two races. We feel he will and this will make the difference as he closes his first successful season in MotoGP.”

Cirano Mularoni – Team Manager – JiR Team Scot
“Our appointment at Sepang will be a good opportunity for our riders to confirm their recent state of good form. On paper it does not appear as a good circuit for us but we remember Malaysia in 2004 when we obtained the 125cc GP world title with Andrea. With this in mind, I consider this track our friend! The circuit has many different characteristics and situations on it that Andrea and Yuki will have to interpret themselves and exploit the strengths of their motorcycles.”

Andrea Dovizioso – Rider – JiR Team Scot MotoGP – HONDA RC212V
“Sepang is a very nice circuit, and I enjoy the Malaysia track very much and with the MotoGP bike it is really fun. The two straights are characteristic of the track, which require a high performance engine. I have already done tests here before the championship started, so I know what I will encounter and how to address this weekend of the race, which – even with our technical package – will be challenging. Let’s hope we can aim for the good result which we deserve.”

Yuki Takahashi – Rider – JiR Team Scot 250GP - HONDA RS250RW
“The last two years I have obtained good results here, but this year I would like to do better. The track I do not particularly like, with its two long straights that are not favourable to our motorcycle, but if I think that in Japan we had similar conditions, then maybe we could get another good result. This year, along with the team, we have always done a good job and I would like to continue to do so to conclude in the best possible way this season.”
